BIKE LANES

I will recommend putting in place a city bike plate for cyclists on main roads. The bike plate is for both recreational and business related cyclists who wish to to use main roadways in Toronto. This visibly affixed permit will allow first of all for safety and accountability of cyclists who presently don't have to show or carry id while they ride. This allows for the identification of unsafe cyclists by the public and the police and identification in the event of an accident. The fee will vary if the cyclist is involved in business as a courier or if they are simply a recreational cyclist. The fees will cut down on cyclists using busy streets and give priority to cyclists who are involved in business endeavors. It will reduce fiscal costs dealing with accidents on busy local streets. We believe this speaks to fiscal lacks, and the right of cyclists to utilize city streets as well as public safety.

Constituents that do not wish to buy a permit can simply utilize the plethora of bike paths and side streets freely without inconvenience.

I want Ward 6 to be safe for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists alike.
